A young brown bear waits her turn at the tree line

Wildlife photographer Sune Wendelboe photographed a young female brown bear after a bigger bear ran her out of a clearing. In autumn, bigger bears do not share the berries.

Wildlife photographer Sune Wendelboe caught a young female brown bear after a bigger bear ran her out of the clearing. She sat at the tree line and watched.

Families split around mating season. The young are on their own. Bigger bears do not share the berries. In this taiga, autumn is one job: eat until the den. She is not posing. She is waiting for the coast to clear.
